Today’s Test and a Second Chance or Third

UPDATE: THE RETAKE WILL BE ON MONDAY, MAY 14TH

UPDATE 2: THE TEST IS AVAILABLE ONLINE AND MAY BE COMPLETED AT HOME WITH WHATEVER HELPS YOU WISH. HOWEVER, THERE IS A TIME LIMIT AND YOU ONLY GET ONE CHANCE. See http://caddo.edmodo.com and join either Jedi Knights (code: 7tjpx7) or Sith Lords (code: hgrlb4). Extra credit is available. If you take the test online you get the highest of your three scores.

The open notes test today did not go well for many of you. As I look through your notes (turned in as a binder check) I notice that many omitted notes on key people and events despite the word bank on the board. The test is droppable. However, I want to offer another way for you to redeem your grade if it was less than desired.

Tomorrow I will return your notes to you, ungraded. I will give you one week to refurbish your notes and/or wikis at home using the resources posted here. I will then re-administer a form of this test ON MONDAY. Your grade will be the higher of your two scores. The test will remain droppable.

I want you all to go to high school with good note-taking skills. I will address this with you in the next week.

Unit Test Makeup Deadline

Next Thursday is the deadline to make up any untaken unit tests. See JPAMS to determine which tests you have not taken.  You must make them up in class next week on Monday, Wednesday, or Thursday.  You will not be able to make up two in one day because each test takes 40 minutes. After Thursday I will permanently assign a grade of zero for any untaken unit tests.

Test & Binder Check 4.1 (and an Extra-Credit Offer)

We will take a normal, droppable, 200 point test on Wednesday (yes, changed from Tuesday).  The test is open note or mind map.  The notes or mind map must be on paper, not on an electronic device.  The notes will be collected after the test as the binder check. No print-outs of articles – the notes must be made by you.  I encourage you to use the videos on this blog and compare notes with friends before the test.  I will allow a print out of a student group created wiki provided it does not include cut and pasted sections from online articles. Groups creating such wikis may receive extra credit if I am impressed with the quality of the work. No more than five students may be in one group to receive extra credit. The test will cover:

  • Franks
  • Vandals
  • Saxons
  • Vikings
  • Mongols
